The Great Nuclear Debate: Nuclear Weapons-Making in KC

Program for Sunday, October 9, 2011 – 1:00 pm till 3:00 pm

This Presentation met in Stack Auditorium, Room 111, Royall Hall, UMKC

Ira Helfand, M.D., Emergency Medicine Physician in Leeds, Mass., Physicians for Social Responsibility Board Member and Vice President of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War;

 

 

Maurice Smith,  is a retiree of the Department of Energy’s Kansas City Plant where he served as a Staff Engineer

 

Mr. Smith argued in support of nuclear weapons manufacturing. Dr. Helfand argued against nuclear weapons production and supported steps to reach a nuclear weapons-free world.

The debate was moderated by Jabulani Leffall of 89.3 FM KCUR’s “Central Standard.”
